As one 10-day contract expires, the Sixers are granted another exception to help them fill out the roster.
Well, at least it doesn’t sound like the Sixers are in a Dallas Mavericks-type of position where they’ll have to forfeit games.
As Oshae Brissett’s 10-day contract expired, Philadelphia was granted another hardship exception by the league as they continue to just barely have the minimum number of players available to play.
The Sixers stayed internal this time, signing Marcus Bagley from the Delaware Blue Coats. Bagley, the brother of former number two overall pick Marvin, appeared in 18 games for the Coats this year, starting in 13 of them. He averaged 11.3 points per game on 43.3/31.7./75.9 percent shooting splits, along with 8.1 rebounds per game.
Official @sixers news: The team has signed Marcus Bagley of the @blue_coats to an NBA 10-day contract.
Second year in Delaware and 14 PPG/10 RPG over the last 10 (six double-doubles). Credit to Marcus, as well as Mike Longabardi and staff.
Bagley will wear No. 35 with PHI.

Between the G and Summer League, Bagley has been floating around in the Sixers’ system for a little bit now. He was signed to an Exhibit 10 contract by the team for training camp and preseason ahead of the 2023-24 campaign. He had a strong finish to this year with the Coats, as was covered in Liberty Ballers’ most recent check in with Delaware.
The Sixers will likely need one or two more exceptions for a couple more 10-day contracts just to finish out the season. They have found Brissett’s replacement, but Chuma Okeke’s deal is set to expire after the Sixers take on the New Orleans Pelicans.
They’ve already had to sit all three of their two-ways since they are running out of NBA days as well. Jeff Dowtin Jr. has four games left since he’s been signed since the beginning of the season. Alex Reese and Jalen Hood-Schifino also have limited days since they signed their deals so late into the season.
With 11 games left, the end of the season is finally drawing near. How many Sixers make it there though, is the question.
