The Sixers lost their sixth straight game in embarrassing fashion at home to Boston.

A week off did not do Philadelphia any good, as the post-All Star Break Sixers performed much like the pre-All Star Break Sixers, getting destroyed by the Boston Celtics, 124-104. The Sixers didn’t even have the ‘they weren’t healthy’ excuse to fall back on, as the Big 3 were all in the starting lineup. The Celtics buried the Sixers under a barrage of three-pointers, sinking 24 of their 54 attempts. Are we supposed to hope Philadelphia pushes for the Play-In and somehow manages to win two games so we can see more performances like this across a first-round playoff series? We probably won’t need to find out based upon how this team is playing right now. Anyway, onto a super sad Bell Ringer.
Tyrese Maxey: 16 points, 5 rebounds, 7 assists, 1 steal, 0 turnovers

Of the big guns, Tyrese bears the least responsibility for this disaster. He used explosive change-of-pace dribble drives to finish a handful of floaters and lay-ins at the rim. Maxey also set up Kelly Oubre Jr. for a baseline dunk with a nice bottom pass and perfectly laid an alley oop feed up for Quentin Grimes in transition. I would have liked to see more of the offense run through Maxey on this particular evening.

Ricky Council IV: 10 points, 1 rebound, 2 assists, 1 turnover

Ricky Council hit a pair of catch-and-shoot threes, but more importantly, had a couple very cool dunks in transition. I didn’t even care that his tomahawk dunk came in fourth quarter garbage time; it was a fun play. Very low bar tonight, so he makes the cut here.
Another beautiful pass in transition from Maxey and this time it’s Ricky Council IV who finishes it pic.twitter.com/K149NBwx5R

Kelly Oubre Jr.: 16 points, 4 rebounds, 3 steals, 3 turnovers

Oubre played his role well when the Sixers had the ball, moving actively as an off-ball cutter to receive feeds from Maxey and Joel Embiid. On the other end of the court, he pickpocketed Jaylen Brown on multiple occasions, which was nice, albeit like a broken umbrella in the hurricane that was Boston’s offensive onslaught. I could have done with a couple more made shots and a couple fewer poor passes from Kelly, but on the Sixers-adjusted scale, he was pretty good.
