Paul George will take the court for the first time as a Sixer in Friday’s preseason game against the Timberwolves in Iowa. Joel Embiid did not join the team on the trip.
Well, this is a much-needed Philadelphia sports palette cleanser.
The Inquirer’s Keith Pompey reported this afternoon that Paul George will be making his preseason debut for the Sixers this Friday against the Minnesota Timberwolves. While this will be the first game George plays in a Sixers uniform, it appears Joel Embiid did not make the trip.

Now, the tricky thing is, unless you are attending this game in Des Moines, Iowa, you won’t be able to actually watch this game.
Despite this game taking place in Iowa, the Sixers are still technically the home team. However, NBC Sports Philadelphia is not broadcasting the game. While NBA.com does say the game is available on League Pass, it does not list the Timberwolves TV broadcast as someone who is carrying the game.
The only way to catch this game live appears to be listening on either of the team’s radio stations.
Non-televised preseason games are shockingly still a common occurrence in the year 2024. Yes, the NBA preseason is fairly meaningless, but what else do these networks have going on?
Most of the time that doesn’t really end up being an issue, but George’s debut will certainly draw plenty of viewing interest from the fanbase. It’s not like that’s new information either — people are going to want to tune in to see George take the floor as a Sixer for the first time.
It’s been over 60 years since Wilt Chamberlain scored 100 points in a game that wasn’t aired on TV and, somehow, this is still a thing that happens.
