It shouldn’t be long before we see the Sixers’ new star make his regular season debut.
After the somewhat sudden absence of Joel Embiid in the Sixers’ season opener against the Bucks on Wednesday, we have some good injury news today about the team’s newest star.
The Sixers have provided an update on Paul George to confirm that he’s continuing to progress well in his recovery from the left knee bone bruise he suffered in preseason. He won’t be playing in the team’s two-game road trip this week, but another update on his availability is expected early next week.
Over the rest of the week while George remains on the sidelines, the Sixers will face the Raptors in Toronto on Friday, before they head to Indiana on Sunday to conclude their road trip. From there, they have an extra day of rest that’s coming surprisingly early in the season (and at a good time with George and Embiid out), as they’ll have two days off before returning home to play the Pistons next Wednesday.
We knew this George injury was nothing serious, but it’s still reassuring to hear he’s progressing well and another update is coming soon. Perhaps in a week or so, we’ll get to see George play his first regular season action in Philadelphia.
