Last night’s overtime thriller between the Knicks and Sixers can officially be dubbed “The Tyrese Maxey Game.”
The 23-year-old All-Star dropped 46, 9 and 5 in The Garden to pump the brakes on Philly’s Cancun trip and extend the series for at least another game.
As Maxey poured in bucket after bucket, comedian Jon Stewart — who had a front row seat to the action — could only look on with that familiar, sinking feeling that many New York basketball fans know all too well.
He even acknowledged as much on social media about after the loss. “Respect to Maxey…but damn…I’m clearly getting too old for this [expletive]…” the lifelong Knicks fan tweeted with a screen grab of his reaction.
It didn’t take long for Stewart’s reaction to go viral:
“This basically where I’m at,” another fan said.
“Iconic Moment right here lol,” a user laughed.
“Maxey tore your heart out Jon,” another person cried.
“Same Jon, same.”

Maxey scored or assisted on the 76ers’ final 11 points in regulation including two 3-pointers on back-to-back possessions to send the game to an extra frame.
The series is now 3-2 with the Sixers headed back to Philly and the chance to further rip Knicks fans’ hearts out by forcing a Game 7.
