Even after he was shut down for the season, drama follows Joel Embiid.
It’s just always something, isn’t it?
For any poor Sixers fan about to tune in for their matchup against the Golden State Warriors got some interesting news on NBA Countdown.
ESPN’s Shams Charania reported that Joel Embiid went directly to Josh Harris about the state of his knee and his treatment going forward. He also made sure to point that there have been “fundamental disagreements” between Embiid and the team about how to treat his left knee.

This is the third day in a row something like has been said on ESPN. Stephen A. Smith said on NBA Countdown the day before that Josh Harris was reluctant to give Embiid the extension north of $200 million he signed in the summer, and it was Daryl Morey who pushed them to do it.
Stephen A: “There are rumors that Josh Harris was very reluctant to sign Joel Embiid to this extension and Daryl Morey was the one who said we got to do it. If that’s the truth, Daryl Morey is in a world of trouble” pic.twitter.com/a9S2yvBJxE

Smith said the same thing on First Take the day before that.
It’s not surprising, just super lame that the second it looks to be over for Embiid, ownership is frantically covering their own asses. Everyone in the world knows this season hasn’t gone as expected for the Sixers, and it’s hard to blame anyone when the primary reason is someone’s body falling apart.
Regardless, it appears ownership has already started to pin this season’s shortcomings all on Morey. Bill Simmons’ report from earlier in the season, that the team could potentially be looking at Bob Myers to replace Morey, feels a lot more relevant.
Myers played a big role in helping Josh Harris build up the Washington Commanders front office after he acquired the team.
