Philadelphia 76ers superstar Joel Embiid is determined to keep going in today’s Game 1 playoff game against the rival New York Knicks despite suffering what seemed to be a scary injury in the first half.
On his final play of the first half, Embiid went for a dunk that was one of the best anyone at Madison Square Garden had seen all day. Unfortunately, as he came down he appeared to land awkwardly on his oft-injured leg and clenched his knee before laying down on the floor.
Fans were immediately concerned as Embiid appeared to be seriously hurt. His eye was also twitching in a scene that was a cause for alarm to some.
Embiid had to go to the Sixers locker room and did not return before the end of the half. As a result, there was no shortage of worrying for the reigning NBA MVP.
But those concerns seem to have been exaggerated. Embiid is back on the court, so it’s clearly not a crippling injury.
Reports coming from Madison Square Garden indicate that things are “trending up” for Embiid early in the second half.
Will Joel Embiid be able to finish the game?
The game is being played on ESPN and MSG Network.
