James Harden has reportedly not made a decision on whether he will pick up his $35.6 million player option with the Philadelphia 76ers, reports ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
Harden signed a one-plus-one deal worth $68.6 million deal with the Sixers last offseason.
“I’m told James Harden and his representatives have not made a decision yet on that $35.6 million player option that he would have to exercise by Thursday afternoon,” said Wojnarowski. “It gives him about two days now to figure out whether it makes more sense to decline it and then go into free agency where they can negotiate a new deal with the Sixers, or look elsewhere, including the Houston Rockets.”
Wojnarowski adds that Harden has anticipated signing a longer term deal since re-signing with the Sixers in 2022.
Harden is eligible for a four-year, $213 million max extension. The Sixers would like to re-sign Harden on a shorter deal.
