Daryl Morey is keeping a famous portrait of James Harden he commissioned in 2018 by Croatian artist Filip Peraic on his living room wall despite what was a messy separation.
“It’s one of my prized possessions,” said Morey.
Morey traded for Harden in 2012 when he was running the Houston Rockets and again in 2022 with the Philadelphia 76ers.
“James changed my life,” Morey said. “He’s one of the all time greats. As time goes on, people will think about him in much more historic terms. What he did to change the game and change the NBA will get recognized more as the Twitterverse and the people who don’t understand how good he is, fade away.”
Harden feels differently about Morey and has told associates he doesn’t intend to ever speak to him again.
